A Time of Thanks

So this post is kind of late, but I figured better late than never! This time of year (even spilling over into Christmastime...aka now) always makes me think about what I'm thankful for, like it does with most people. So I just wanted to talk about four things I'm thankful for. And in the process, you get to see all my cute pictures from Thanksgiving!

1. My Parents: I'm so grateful for them! They have always loved me and supported me and helped me with everything that I do. I know they will always be there for me, and the knowledge of that "support system" is so great. I love them and don't know what I'd do without them.













2. My siblings: They are all so great! I'm so thankful for them and the influence they have each made in my life and continue to make. I love doing stuff with them, and I love having them there for me to talk to. Sometimes I'm amazed at how great literally every single one of them is at listening to me and giving me advice - even if they don't realize that they've just given me much needed advice. I'm really so grateful that I have all of them. I don't know what I'd do without them.



























Jeff and Jason were already included in the thoughts about my siblings, but I just wanted to add that I'm so thankful for what great brothers-in-law I got! I am very lucky! And also, I'm grateful for cute Will and I am so excited to have another cute nephew in a couple of months! Yay!




































3. My Friends: All of my friends have made a major impact in my life for the better - and I am grateful to them for that. I am also just so thankful that I was blessed with the amazing friends that I have! Junior High, High School, and now College are/were the great experiences they are/were due a lot to my friends. I don't know what I'd do without them either. (these pics are obviously not from Thanksgiving ha ha. And I am sorry but I have hardly any pictures on my laptop, so please don't be offended if you aren't in any of them! :) I love you all!)

















4. The Church: I'm so grateful to be a member the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I don't think I could make it through everything like I do without the knowledge that we are all children of God and that I can pray for help, guidance, and comfort whenever I need to. I am so thankful for the Atonement. I'm grateful for all that Jesus Christ has done for me and that I can be saved through Him. I love Him and am so grateful for Him. I truly don't know what I would do without Him.

My Cute Little Work Area

At my job, I have an office...ish. It has three and a half walls ha ha but no door. So it is an office, just not an enclosed one. But it's cute and nice and it has a window for one of the whole walls and I quite like it. Me and another intern there share it. About twice a week we end up working at the same time, but we just take turns working on the conference table out in the main area. Sometimes one of us needs the computer, and usually the other person doesn't NEED it the same day. So yes. I am glad I am boring you with an entire post about my office space. Talk about lame. But I had these pictures on my phone (I was sitting there and I remembered that I had my camera in my purse so I took it out to get a picture, but unfortunately my camera was dead. Bummer. Luckily I had my phone to quench my photo taking thirst) so I figured I would share them.

Here's a close up of my desk. Doesn't it look at professional editor like? Ha ha kidding. But this project was pretty sweet. See the darker colored pages on the right side? They're copies of the Kirtland Egyptian Papers. I went through the revised "Meaning of the Kirtland Egyptian Papers" or something like that by Hugh Nibley. It was really interesting!

Uncertain? Why yes, I am.

Lately I've been thinking about some things and I'm trying to sort it all out. And I suppose I can kill two birds with one stone.... sort out my thoughts and update my blog. I can't believe I haven't posted since Halloween...oh that blessed day! :)

Side note: I am at work waiting for my mom to pick me up to go to Disney on Ice (yay!) and I got sick of working so I clocked out and am now just writing this lovely post. Sorry, long explanation for the little side note I was trying to make. The actual side note is that the computer I usually work on is getting fixed so I am using a different computer and the keyboard is all wacko. The period key makes a semicolon. Random, I know. I'm just mentioning this so you understand if I forget and there are randomly tons of semicolons all over the place

Back to the "meat" of the post. As you may have assumed from the title of this post, I am a wee bit uncertain. Uncertain about what to do with my life; Yes, I know this may shock some of you. Me, uncertain? Me, the person who has pretty much always known what she would do with her life and has been almost obsessively preparing for this future career; (For any of you who don't know, that future career plan is editing and publishing)

I am not exactly deciding that I don't like this plan anymore; I am just stressing over whether or not it's THE plan I want. (that semicolon was intentional! woohoo.) I still love editing and publishing, and the prospect of having that as a career still intrigues me a lot. I just am suddenly worrying that maybe I made the decision too fast. That probably doesn't sound quite right since the motto seems to be "Choose a career that you love" and I love editing; But what if I would love something else even more?

It is freaking me out that I'm unsure because it's so not me. But I suppose I should chill out a little because I hear it's all the rage to have these doubts when you go to college. Then again, what's so great about being like everyone else? In this case..... absolutely nothing is great about it ha ha; I would so much rather just be happy with the decisions I've made. I mean they are great decisions! There isn't even anything wrong with them. And I am already super well on my way (can you say that?) to becoming successful and whatnot in this specific career; I am already doing my SECOND internship with a publishing company and it is only my first semester of college. I already have more experience in the area than a lot of people have by the time they graduate. I find it so funny that I am going to start taking editing classes (for my editing minor...... obviously unless I change my minor :S) and I will already have had so much experience in that area. I am so cut out for this career and I am so doing a great job at preparing for it. So why am I having these doubts?

This post is rather random and probably semi confusing due to my ramblings (I hope I didn't lose you before this point). And I guess I just want to end it with one last thought....... Anyone have any grand ideas about a different career I should pursue? Anything you could totally see me doing that you have just never mentioned before? I am SO open for ideas! Ha ha

IT'S HALLOWEEN!!!!

Yeah, okay. Pretty much all I wanted to say was already said in the title. But let me say it again. IT'S HALLOWEEN!!! Yay! Seriously like my favorite day of the year is finally here! Just had to share my excitement.

Halloween Parties! Yay!!

So Halloween is my absolute FAVORITE thing ever. It seriously is pretty much the best holiday. Except maybe Christmas......I think Christmas barely beats Halloween. But I am not even sure if it does! Truly, my heart belongs to Halloween. And this year for my favorite day I decided to dress up as my favorite villain. Poison Ivy. From Batman obviously. She is the best. Love her. I have always wanted to be her (okay, always as in maybe three or four years) and it finally happened this year! I found the perfect dress at the D.I. (sa-weet I know) and then my mom did an AMAZING job turning it into a Poison Ivy-worthy costume. Seriously, Uma Thurman would have felt beyond privileged to get to wear this thing.

So I was fortunate enough to be able to wear my costume twice already. Yay! It would be quite sad if I had this fabulous costume that I only got to wear once. Psha. That's be so lame. Anyways. So on Friday I went to a party in Mapleton that my friend's family (Allen's) was throwing and it was pretty much awesome

Seriously, I vote BYU needs to have Fall Break

So at this lovely time of year when schools are having UEA or colleges are having Fall Breaks, BYU annoyingly has nothing. No break at all. Not even one little day off. I find it very upsetting. Ha ha I really need a break. I'm at the point where I'm just hitting a wall and I can't focus on my classes and I struggle keeping up like a good little student should. :)


This fact is very apparent in the last few days of my life. I didn't do like any homework or studying over the weekend like I should have, and that totally blew up in my face today when I had to take an exam for Nutrition. Ah, Nutrition. The worst class ever. For me at least. Particularly because it's hard and confusing and the tests are pretty bad.


So yes, I am so very smart in choosing this test to not adequately prepare for. I woke up early this morning and studied and then I studied in between all my breaks. Well, tried to study. My lack of Fall Break - hmph! - and my need for a break was in full force today as I couldn't even get myself to study. Still. So instead I spent my whole hour long break in between Book of Mormon and French talking to Jenny about things that most definitely were not on my Nutrition test. I stalled so much with my studying ha ha ha ha. Obviously. Since I even spent that time with Jenny taking pictures of us on my computer. Not very smart, but seriously.....way more enjoyable than studying.


So yeah.....I just felt the need to rant about this for a minute. Now I'm all good and pretty much over it. Not the needing a break, just the irritation. Hope you weren't too bored reading about it. Ha ha.

P.S. Oh, and by the way, don't worry. Regardless of my lack of sufficient studying, I so did not fail the test. I did even better than I did on the last test in that class. Maybe being a bad student/studier is a good thing?

Well that was thoroughly enjoyable

I started, I'm done, and I'm loving it all....yay me

I started! My new job! Yay. I had a wee bit of training last Friday and then I was put to work source checking. For being such a tedious like task, I find it so very fun. I know, I'm crazy a little. But I love it. And I suppose that's really all that matters. I also spent some time on the Maxwell Institute website, getting familiar with it. Tomorrow I will get some training on how to post things on the website because yes, that is part of my job. Woot woot. On Monday I worked again and I pretty much finished source checking the document I was source checking, but I still have a few minor things to do with it. But apparently I will be starting a new project tomorrow, proofreading, that needs to be done by Tuesday. So excited for that! Woohoo I love my job. So ....yeah.....I started and am liking it, no, loving it, so far. Hopefully that doesn't change! It's a little scary and intimidating and all that, but not too bad. So yeah!


I'm done! At the MTC Bakery. I officially baked my last cookies ever (hopefully) at the MTC. It was pretty thrilling when we finished traying up the cookies and I could think to myself "Never again!" Haha. It was even more exciting when I finishing wiping down the tables and freezer doors and could think "This is the last time EVER that I have to do this!" So yes, today was just a big bundle of excitement. It was a TINY bit sad knowing I won't go back (only because it's kinda fun working with the people I work with) but really, I was overall just super psyched. :) I can finally just devote all my work time (BYU doesn't let students work more than 20 hours) to the fabulous internship which I am so lucky to have!

P.S. I found it very ironic that I finally got my name tag at the same time I put in my two weeks notice. It seems only fitting to display it on here as a reminder of what I have moved on from ha ha

I finally have some pretty much AMAZING news

I am so thrilled to finally have something noteworthy to blog about. As I mentioned in my prior post, I have been working at the MTC in the bakery. The job itself wasn't too bad, but the hours were definitely not okay. Six hours a week is pretty much nothing. And then all of us cookie cookers were just way too speedy and so I was getting off early everyday too. That is just not the way to actually get money. Obviously. So I decided that it was time for me to get a new job, especially since I am now having to save lotsa money by next fall to go on an amazing Study Abroad...if I get accepted. I'll let you know. Anyways, back to my ridiculously wonderful news.

As I was perusing through BYU's employment site and looking over my options, I found an editorial assistant job that was just up my ally. I applied obviously and interviewed for the job. It was an awesome job and I really hoped I'd get it. Alas, they gave it to someone older and more experienced. But the guy I interviewed with was very impressed by my resume and my experience (having an internship at Covenant Communications particularly) which made me feel all happy and whatnot.

So yesterday while I was working in the bakery, I missed a call. When I got off and looked at my phone I saw that I had a voicemail from someone who I didn't know. Well.....I listened to it and it was someone else from the Maxwell Institute (the same place as the aforementioned job, just in a different department) and they said that the guy who I interviewed with passed along my resume to them and they wanted me to come in and interview for a position that they were currently interviewing for. You can imagine how positively thrilled I was that not only was the guy impressed enough that he passed along my resume, but that they were impressed enough to call me and ask me to come interview! Yay me. So I ended up going in fro an interview this morning.

The interview went fabulously and by the end of them explaining what exactly the job was, I was basically dying to get the job. They explained my duties and that it's an internship for internship credit or something, but that it's paid. Woot woot. If I got the job I would get to do proofreading, editing, sourcechecking, and all those fun things that one does in the editing and publishing world. And get paid for it! Obviously I really, really wanted this position.

They explained that they wanted to make the decision today and that they would let me know. So after that I went to a fabulous shoe party and got some really cute shoes! (Thanks again, Mom) I got back from that and went to French class, still anxiously waiting to know about the job. After my class I came back to my apartment to study for a big, yucky test I had to take. Amidst this studying, my phone suddenly buzzed, signalling that I had a voicemail. I hate my phone sometimes. Didn't even ring. So I listened to the voicemail and she informed me that they had talked about it and had decided to offer me the position!!!

Oh my pure excitement and joy. Enough said.

I obviously accepted the offer and all that and I can't wait till I get to start. This is such an amazing opportunity and I am so grateful and excited for it! Yay everything!

I'm all grown up like with a job and everything!

So I officially have a real job. For the first time ever. Pretty impressive, I know. So my fantastic new job is at the MTC in the Bakery. Pretty much all I do is put cookies on trays, cook the cookies, take the cookies out of the oven, and put them on trays for the next day. I know, I know, it sounds beyond thrilling and you are probably wondering how I can handle the excitement. But, rest assured, I am handling it perfectly well. What can I say? I'm a cookie making natural I suppose. Enough said. So yes, I started my job this past week and so far I am liking it. Not my dream job or anything, but it's not too bad. I'm pretty content with it. Except that I have a class that gets over at 1:50 and my shift starts at 2. That just doesn't work because I can't get all the way to the MTC that fast. But they're pretty understanding so it's only stressful, not detrimental to my good standing there as an employee or anything. Pretty exciting I guess.

So....let's talk about my life

I'm on my new laptop, so I have a very limited supply of pictures. Of me or of anything really. So, just so you have a picture of me you can look at, because I am sure you really want that, here's the picture of me and my favorite 22 year old sister Brittany. Now, let's just fill ya'all in on what's going on in my life. I just started at BYU last Tuesday (September 2). I'm taking 14 credits, but I don't have too hard of classes so I'm sure I will so be able to handle it all. The only class that I'm worried about is my Nutrition class, but it's not that bad. Since I'm going to college, I obviously moved out. So I'm living at Stonebridge in pretty much the closest apartment to BYU in pretty much the closest place to BYU. It's pretty much great. I timed it yesterday and to get home from the WSC it only took me like 2 1/2 minutes. And that was with me having to wait for the walk signal when crossing the street. Woot woot. So there's the general gist of what's going on in my life. Not very exciting, but hey.

Caitlyn Judith.....finally has a blog

Well since I'm out of the house and all grown up and going to college....aw, cute....i figured it was time I finally made myself a blog. My life isn't particularly interesting, but for some reason people think my life is going to get interesting or something since I'm moved out and in a new singles ward - can't wait till I'm in the menu...ha - and attending BYU. So ya'all are just so lucky and you get to read posts about my life that is supposedly going to start picking up. Don't you feel so privileged? I know I would.
